My favourite white T-shirt came out of the wash the other day. It was now pink. I had thrown it in the wash the other day without thinking and paid the price for this lapse. I had been a bit stressed all day by a number of things and this one topped it all off. Worst of all, when looking online to buy another one, it looked like they were out of stock.
After a few minutes trying to calm myself down, I stopped and thought about what I was doing. Why was I reacting in this way? I was choosing to get annoyed, to see a pattern in random events that were seemingly adding up to make it “just not my day”.
We can’t control everything that happens to us for sure (although, with more care I could’ve prevented my T-shirt turning pink). But we can choose how we react. Reflecting at the end of the day, I was laughing at myself for getting caught up in the passing of little things like a ruined T-shirt.
We can react or we can pro-act. Choose to be proactive today.
