Cheers Dave

There’s someone I know at uni that is just one of the nicest people I know.

They’re kind, funny, thoughtful, confident and humble – just a brilliant person all around. And what’s more there’s no jealousy of them. I think I can be quite a jealous person but with this person there is none of that. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve grown up a bit and know my identity is not in what other people think or say.

And I think that’s what makes this person so likeable.

So often we go around wearing a mask. The way we dress, act, speak. The things we do, what we like and dislike. And we must allow this mask, this “False Self” – it’s necessary at first. But is not who you really are. It is passing and we know that deep down we pretend more than we need to. This person I’ll call “Dave” probably still has their own“mask”, but I perceive that they know their true identity and try their best to live that out.

Who is the “Dave” in your life who you can try to be more like?
