It’s both revealing and sad that it takes a pandemic to show us that it’s the ordinary and often forgotten people that change the world every single day.
It’s not that celebrities are not doing their bit to help in this crisis, by all means, many of them are giving their resources to help. But our obsession and worship of their lifestyles makes us forget that they are only human beings and that you don’t have to have money, fame or status to be a hero or idol in someone’s life.
It’s the nurses, doctors, carers, neighbours, supermarket and shop staff, volunteers, parents and law and order service people who are showing us that we must get through this time together, in service of one another.
How can you show your gratitude to these people?
And if you are one of these people, thank you.
P.S. This post was inspired by Pope Francis’ meditation the other week.
