The olive branch has been a symbol of peace for centuries, supposedly dating back to Ancient Greece.
We’re called to be merciful people and carry out acts of mercy in our living with others.
But can we have mercy on ourselves first?
Once we give ourselves an olive branch – we can forgive ourselves and be at peace with our messy humanity – we can extend that branch to others.
We must plant and cultivate seeds of peace from within us. Once we do that, we can grow and reach out to others, living lives as peacemakers and merciful forgivers.
