We want to express our individuality. We’re all created uniquely with our gifts, talents and vocation or calling.
We’re encouraged to “be ourselves” and “be true to ourselves”.
This is important. But we also need to be wary of individualism.
Individualism is “my way or the highway”. It ignores others contributions because “we know best”.
In contrast, we can bring our individualality or particular contribution to others, even if it’s difficult for others to hear and accept. For example, in constructive criticism.
This is why it’s so important that it comes from a place of love and we have the best interests of others at heart. Of course, this can be manipulated. However, when we strive to come from a place of love with our contribution, our words and our listening, we can help everyone to grow together.
