A few weeks ago, my girlfriend and I met up with some friends in a local park for a socially distant picnic.
We agreed on a time and arrived at the park ten minutes early.
To summarise the story (one for another day!), we were made to wait for an hour.
We now had this “extra” time in our day, which we hadn’t accounted for. We also had a choice what to do with it. It could have been a source of frustration and annoyance, when we complained about being messed around and made to wait.
Or it was an opportunity to spend quality time with each other on a beautiful, sunny day.
If we look for them, we are presented with opportunities like this every day; where something that is unexpected, can turn out to be a chance to practise presence or gratitude.
We can choose to see things as Blessings or as things out there “to get us” – sent by the Universe as a personal attack.
The choice is ours.
When was the last time you found a blessing in something unexpected? Where will you seek to find a blessing in disguise today?
