The other day, I was out for a walk on a very autumnal evening. The air was cold and clear. As I looked around me, there was a stillness in the air and I noticed the lack of wildlife around me.
I thought back to the walks I went on during the summer. In the late, warm evenings the world would be alive with the sights and sounds of nature. Just a few weeks later, when the nights are quickly closing in, it seems as if nature has already gone into hibernation or died off.
I remember reading about the lives of Fruit Flies, which on average live for around a fortnight. That seems like an awfully short lifespan to me. But that’s my perspective of time.
What seems like a long time to us, is the ‘norm’ for the Fruit Fly.
As the end of the year rapidly approaches, I’ve felt like time has been slipping away from me.
If I had only two weeks to live, I wonder what I would do with that time?
What would you do? What would you stop doing that you’ve been doing for the past fortnight?
