How do babies learn to walk?
By falling over. A lot.
But then they get up, unfazed by the fall and toddle a little bit more.
Then fall again. And get up again.
But they don’t stop learning just because they fall. It may take a long time. It may take many painful falls. But sooner or later, they have learnt to walk.
In time, we all forget the effort and slog it took to learn to walk, but that early life lesson has lots to teach us.
Maybe when we’re older the falls are more painful and we don’t feel like we have the motivation we did when we were toddlers to learn to walk. That early resilience may have faded because it hurts so much when we fall.
But like the toddler, we too can choose to take baby steps each day in the right direction. We can make the choice to get back up again and strive to move forward.
Is there an area of your life where you need to take baby steps forward?
