For Christians, the season of Advent is about of waiting and hoping. The word comes from the Latin ‘adventus’, which means ‘coming’.
The majority of this year has been spent waiting; for lockdowns to come to an end, for vaccines, for a return to ‘normality’.
Waiting can be exhausting and worrying.
But it can also be a time for patience and for hope.
Despite it sometimes seeming like this pandemic will never end, there will come a time when we will look back on it as a period of history.
Perhaps this winter season can be a time for renewed hope and perspective about what is to come.
Now Advent has passed, what are you waiting and hoping for in the coming year?
