If others don’t know, there’s no way they can help.
I cannot expect people to help me if I refuse to let them in and let them see my struggles.
I don’t have to share everything. But I need to show my brokenness and need for others and help. To be vulnerable is hard. The culture tells us to hide it; to act ‘macho’, to not cry, to pretend everything is fine.
But this helps no one. Mental health should not be taboo. Society has come a long way in the last few years, but there is still so much work to be done.
In my own life, I need to have the courage to share my vulnerabilities, the patience to wait for others to share and the humility and compassion to listen to others.
Is there someone in your life you need to reach out to?
