This scripture always stops me in my tracks. I think I should probably reflect on it every evening.
The Digital Revolution has created a world where our communication can be instant. This is a gift. I can speak within seconds to my friends in different countries. This was impossible just a few years ago.
But it’s also created a tension and expectation with regards to responses. We can misinterpret and read into messages in a way we never would with in-person conversation. We have no cues – tone, facial expressions, body language, sarcasm. None of these can be picked up on a message.
It’s so easy to get angry and upset over messages. But the truth is, we never know what’s going on in someone else’s life. It’s not the most positive thought experiment, but perhaps it’s better to assume the worse might have happened and simply be kind with our words and responses.
Give others the benefit of the doubt and forgive before the sun goes down.
